DVD6
he DVD 6 provided excellent value and performance. Unlike many DVD players that fail to satisfy when attempting to play CDs the DVD 6 benefits from Cyrus’ acclaimed experience in audio design. Superb picture quality is achieved by careful tuning of the video circuitry to provide subtle detail in the extremes of light and dark often missed by less capable but apparently feature-filled players.
The video output signals from the DVD6 originate from a high resolution video encoder and are buffered through high speed fully discrete analogue amplifier stages for all format outputs. High quality linear power supply regulators and careful application of circuit decoupling ensure that the amplifiers maintain good transient performance and exhibit a low noise floor.
The DVD6 is constructed in two physically separate domains to isolate the sensitive analogue video and audio signals from the high speed digital disc reading and decoding functions. Separate power supplies are configured for the two domains to eliminate noise coupling which can occur in players with single domain construction and common power supplies. Based on the 24 bit technology developed for the acclaimed CD7, the audio DAC of the DVD6 features an integrated stereo filter DAC running at 8 times base sample rate. This state of the art converter has excellent technical performance in all areas. The exceptional dynamic range performance ensures faithful reproduction of essential detail which can so easily be lost from recordings.
