Cyrus XR Amplifiers now Roon Approved

Cyrus are very happy to announce that the Pre-XR, i7-XR and i9-XR products from our XR Series are now Roon Tested products*. Being Roon Tested means that Cyrus and Roon have collaborated to ensure you have the best experience using Roon software and Cyrus products together, so you can just enjoy the music.

Here at Cyrus, we are always working towards providing the modern music consumer with the best experience possible and our products being Roon Tested is an important step in achieving that.

Roon’s fundamental goal is to provide a consistently stellar user experience. This goal doesn’t stop at the software… the experience extends all the way down to the audio playback hardware, regardless of manufacturer. As a Roon Tested partner, Cyrus has provided equipment to Roon for testing with a variety of different operating systems and computers, and shared information about its design and capabilities. We have a direct relationship with Roon and in many cases, the Roon support team has our devices on hand, so you can confidently choose to use Cyrus hardware with Roon.

Cyrus adopts the BluOS ecosystem

Cyrus is happy to officially announce a new strategically important partnership with BluOS that will bring the very best in high performance streaming capabilities to our range of products, providing the modern music consumer with a seamless user experience.

Our goal with BluOS continues to be highly selective about the brands we add to the platform since it is so important that the shared ecosystem model be represented by totally like-minded and committed partners. Cyrus Audio is one of those well aligned brands that the Lenbrook team has long admired.
Gordon Simmonds, CEO of Lenbrook International.

Cyrus Managing Director Nick Clarke said “Music streaming remains complex with the wide variety and rapidly changing list of services and features that are demanded by the modern music consumer. We realised that being part of a well established and class-leading ecosystem provided the best option for both our customers and dealers to minimise this complexity. As such, we always found ourselves coming back to BluOS. Throughout our conversations, Lenbrook made clear their strong commitment to providing all customers a premium user experience, combined with access to the best of the hi-res music streaming services. That aligns so perfectly with the Cyrus brand values that it became a rather straightforward decision for us.”

Cyrus welcomes Nick Clarke as Managing Director

2022 has definitely kicked off in style, as we welcome Nick Clarke to the Cyrus family. Nick has taken on the role of Managing Director, with Simon Freethy becoming Chairman.

Joining us from Harman International, Nick was the Senior Director of Global Engineering for the Luxury Audio business unit working on brands such as Arcam, Lexicon, Revel, JBL Synthesis and Mark Levinson, along with previous leadership positions at Arcam, IAG, TAG Mclaren and Audiolab.

Simon Freethy says “This is very much a strategic move for Cyrus. Nick brings a huge amount of industry experience, enabling us to improve in many areas. His product development expertise will enable us to launch even more exciting new products from our talented R&D team.”

Nick Clarke says, “This is an exciting opportunity for me to have a much more hands on role and lead the latest chapter in the history of a classic and well-loved British HiFi brand. I’m fully focussed on elevating the position of Cyrus as an industry leader that creates products that will excite the modern audio enthusiast.”

Firmware version 4.1 for ONE Cast

Notice: ONE Cast firmware update

A firmware update (v 4.1) has just been issued for the Cyrus ONE Cast. Owners do not need to do anything, the update is ‘Over the Air’ and will install automatically (usually between 2am and 5am of the local time-zone)

What has been updated?

There were some reported issues with compatibility with some of the latest Samsung TVs and Sky Q boxes through both the HDMI (ARC) and the optical inputs.  This update fixes those.

There were also some reported issues on casting from some streaming services in some geographic locations. We have implemented updated Google libraries to generally improve the connection with third-party streaming servers, especially with 48k and 96k streams.

How do I know if my ONE Cast has been updated with the latest firmware?

You can check your firmware version by starting the factory reset procedure from the remote, but WITHOUT completing the process (Do not press the OK button) This is illustrated on Page 25 of the user manual (click here )

If you do perform a full factory reset either by accident or deliberately, the ONE Cast will automatically install this new firmware, but will also need to be reconnected to your network and services.

Winner of Cyrus ONE Cast announced

We have announced the winner of our ‘Virtual Vinyl Day’ competition. Congratulations to Michael Robinson on winning a ONE Cast and thanks again to everyone who entered.

We will be running more online streams in the future and hope to have you all participating.

Top 5 tips for working from home

1. Dress like you are going into the office.

The mental association you make between work and an office can make you more productive, and there’s no reason that feeling should be lost while working from home.

When working from home, do all the things you’d do to prepare for an office role: Set your alarm, make (or go get) coffee, and wear nice smart clothes.

2. Match your music to the task “to-do list”.

During the week, music is the soundtrack to your career (cheesy, but admit it, it’s true). And at work, the best playlists are diverse playlists – you can listen to music that matches the energy of the project you’re working on. We have an office playlist for each day of the week – take a look here!

It can be so easy to get distracted and you can avoid breaks altogether. Don’t let the guilt of working in the building you sleep to prevent you from taking five to relax. Go for a walk outside or spend time with others who might also be in the house.

4. Pick a definitive finishing time each day.

You might be under the impression that working from home establishes more work-life balance but be careful with that assumption. Be careful that you don’t lose complete track of time.

Remind yourself that your normal workday is coming to an end. You don’t have to stop at exactly that time, but knowing the work day is technically over can help you start the process of saving your work and calling it quits for the evening.

5. Plan out what you’ll be working on ahead of time.

Spending time figuring out what you’ll do today can take away from actually doing those things.

Try solidifying your schedule the day before, making it feel more official when you wake up the next day to get started on it.
